💭What Are Sidekicks?

Sidekicks are comparable to the Back Bling, but with a lot more interactions. They’ll follow you wherever, keeping you company during matches. Despite popular belief (and their name), they can’t actually fight or help you. They’re essentially a new cosmetic type, but with still more features to offer. Besides it being nice to have a pet by your side, you can make your Sidekick more personal to you through customization. You can change how your Sidekick looks and even moves! All these changes can be either purchased through V-Bucks or earned through a new side-quest system. Either way, Sidekicks bring something new for players to show themselves off and have fun.
👕Sidekick Customization

When you get a Sidekick, you can start customizing it. You can start by changing your Sidekick’s main colors and name. You can even change their clothing from the start! Be careful, though, as after you get your Sidekick, its colors are locked forever.
But what do you do when you want to change your Sidekick’s main appearance, but can’t anymore? Well, there isn’t much of a loophole around that. But you can actually buy a duplicate Sidekick! Players asked and found out that you can purchase multiples of the same Sidekick. Want 2 different Peels with new colors? You can do that! Doing so requires making the duplicate Sidekick look different from your first. That means no clones are allowed in your account, but at least it’s something!
🐶What Do Sidekicks Do?

Since Sidekicks are invisible, can’t be seen by others, and can’t fight, what’s the point? Well, Sidekicks do actually play an important gameplay role. More cosmetics can be unlocked through side quests, which are pretty easy to do. Completing them will earn you what is called ‘Sidekick Points.’
Sidekick Points are used to fill up a meter in your Sidekick’s main menu. When a level of the meter is complete, you earn a cosmetic! This can be a new walk animation, clothing item, or something else. You can also earn points by just playing matches. The longer you last, the more points you’ll earn by the end. Not only are there levels, but there are, of course, extra features and cosmetics that can be bought straight from the Fortnite item shop with V-Bucks, too.
🎪Where Can You Bring Your Sidekicks?

Sidekicks can be brought into all kinds of events and worlds outside of Battle Royale. They can enter the Fortnite Save the World and Fortnite Festival, respectively. However, in the Fortnite Festival, your Sidekick will only be out when backstage, so you unfortunately won’t get to see them while performing.
🦖All Available Sidekicks Right Now

As of now, there are seven Sidekicks available for purchase in the Fortnite item shop. However, the first Sidekick to be released back on November 1st, Peels the banana dog Sidekick, was released for the current Battle Pass. Right now, the only way to get Peels specifically is through the pass, but there’s a chance for him to return in the Fortnite item shop, hopefully in the near future.
